For many years the standard that cartridge performance was measured by was - How much does it kick! This was when we were all shooting 32grm loads. The shift to 28grm loads has provided a new set of standards. Modern cartridge manufacture has produced shotshells that have either matched or exceeded the performance of the old 32grm loads. This has created new recoil problems for the shooter. Excessive recoil can still cause a severe flinch from pulling the trigger, or neck and shoulder problems and in the most severe cases it causes the shooter to give up the sport he enjoys!
